Heart Pleasing Meal Ideas - Tuesday
Breakfast
- 1/2 cup sliced banana and strawberries with a touch of honey
- 1 Country Harvest Raisin Cinnamon with Whole Wheat bagel, toasted and spread with 1 tsp (5 ml) non-hydrogenated margarine
- 2 oz (60 g) cheese (preferably skimmed with <20% M.F.)
Morning Snack
- 1/2 cup fresh grapes
- 1/2 cup low-fat yogurt
Lunch
- Maple & Ginger Chicken Sandwich with Country Harvest Flax bread
- 1 cup fresh garden salad with homemade dressing: 2 tsp (10 ml) olive oil and 1 tsp (5 ml) cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup store-bought soy pudding, your choice of flavour
Afternoon Snack
- 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
- 1 tbsp roasted soybean seeds
Dinner
- 1 Orange Cod Fillet: poach fish in a mix of ½ cup water, 1/3 cup orange juice and 1/3 cup white wine until flesh becomes opaque. Remove fish, simmer cooking juices a few minutes, then thicken with a mix of cornstarch and 3 tbsp milk. Serve fish topped with a little sauce and seasoned with pepper and fine herbs.
- 1 cup brown rice with vegetables
- 1/2 cup steamed green beans
- 1 fresh fruit kebab sprinkled with cinnamon
Evening Snack
- 1 rice cake
- 2 dried apricots
