the great Canadian toasted turkey sandwich

  • 4 slices Country Harvest Stone Milled 100% Whole Wheat bread
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) chili sauce
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1/3 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb (250 g) boneless, skinless turkey breast, cooked and sliced
  • 1/4 tsp each (1 mL each) salt and pepper
  • 6 oz (175 g) Canadian cheddar cheese, sliced

Toast 4 slices of bread on 1 side under hot broiler 1 to 2 minutes, until lightly toasted. Spread un-toasted sides with 1/4 cup chili sauce, dividing evenly. Top with shredded iceberg lettuce and thinly sliced red onion. Arrange turkey on top of onion; sprinkle salt and pepper. Broil 1 minute to heat turkey. Top turkey with cheddar cheese, dividing evenly. Broil 1 to 2 minutes, until cheese is bubbly. Top with 4 more bread slices; broil 1 to 2 minutes, until lightly toasted. Serve at once.
